Introductory Help to This Unrevised Elberfelder Bible (Unrevidierte Elberfelder)


1. How to use...

It is not hard to understand how to use this on line Bible.
Go to the links bar, at the bottom and select the book you wish to read. The links bar uses the abbrevviations of the name of the books. When mouse is over a link it shows the name of the book, written into a small yellow box.
Books of the Old Testament appears in red, the ones of the New Testament in blue. Non visited links appears bolded. Visited links appears in normal font weight.

You can also use the SEARCH to find words in the text. When reading a text you can press CTRL + F to find words.


2. Books of The Bible

This Bible has a total of 66 books. 39 of the Old Testament and 27 books on the New Testament. This bible does not have the Deuterocanonical books. The full list of books, with names in German Language, are presented below:

3. Abbrevviations

In indexes and biblical citations, it is common the use of abbreviations to refer to the texts.
Usually the formats follows the pattern below:

Colon " : "
they separate the chapter of the verses;
Gn 3:1-15 = Genesis, chapter 3, verses 1 to 15.

Hyphen " - "
it indicates a continuous strip of verses;
Gn 3:1-15 = Genesis, chapter 3, verses 1 to 15.

Comma " , "
it indicates a sequence non continuous of verses;
Dn 9:25,27 = Daniel, chapter 9, verses 25 and 27

Semicolon " ; "
it begins a new chapter of the same book. Or no, if followed by new abbreviation.
Mk 2:2-12;3:1-5 = Mark, chapter 2, verses 2 to 12. Mark chapter 3, verses 1 to 5
Mt 24-26;Ac 1:1-8 = Matthew, chapters 24 to 26, Acts, chapter 1, verses 1 to 8.
